C Nick Cole: Eagles Re-Sign OL by Adam Caplan of ScoutNFLNetwork.com, March 31, 2009 at 3:29pm ET
Nick Cole Profile
OL Nick Cole signed his one-year restricted free agent tender with the
Philadelphia Eagles, the team announced on Tuesday.
Cole will be paid a base salary of $1.545 million under his second-round tender.
The versatile lineman and undrafted free agent signee of the Eagles in 2006
has seen action in all 53 regular and postseason contests at guard, center, and
as a blocking back. In 2008, Cole filled in admirably for the injured Max
Jean-Gilles, who was replacing an injured Shawn Andrews at right
guard. He started the final four regular season games and all three postseason
games at right guard.
Philadelphia has a history of doing well with undrafted free agents.
Other than Cole, some names that come to mind are:
Starting C Jamaal Jackson, who signed as an undrafted free agent in 2003.
WR Hank Baskett, who the team traded for from Minnesota. WR Greg Lewis,
who signed as an undrafted free agent in 2003 (was traded to New England
recently). WLB Akeem Jordan, who signed as an undrafted free agent
in 2007. P Sav Rocca, who was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2007.
