| Biography: |
| 2002: Dario has made six of his first seven field goals and has already set a new record for his longest field goal twice in three games. He booted a 51-yard field goal against Cal and set a new mark by hitting a 52-yard field goal in the Aggies win over New Mexico. He made 3-of-4 field goal attempts against New Mexico and was named the Sun Belt Conference Special Teams Player of the Week. He was also spectacular on kickoffs. Of his six kickoff attempts, two went for touchbacks and three others were not returned further than the 16 yard line. Aguiniga has now made 23 field goals in his career and needs four more to catch Nick Cecava for fifth in career field goals made. He scored 10 points against New Mexico to give him 136 career points, moving past Al Gonzales for 16th in career scoring. He needs 14 more points to catch Kim Locklin for 15th. His 52-yard field goal tied for the fifth longest in Aggie history and was the longest field goal by an Aggie since Cecava booted a 52-yard field goal against Boise State in 1999. He is now just one of just four players in NMSU history to kick more than one 50 yard field goal. The other three are Cecava (2), Andy Weiler (6) and Skip Vernon (8).
Career: Dario is a two-year starter and enters his junior season ranked fifth in career field goals made, sixth in field goal attempts, sixth in extra points made and fifth in extra points attempted. He needs to make 10 more field goals to tie Nick Cecava (27, 1996-99) for fifth. He needs 37 more points to move into the top 15 in Aggie career scoring. After a slow start his freshman season, Aguiniga has made 16 of his last 23 field goal attempts for 70 percent. Dario grew up in Tijuana, Mexico, and would cross the border on a daily basis to attend Marian Catholic High School in San Diego.
2002 (Sophomore): Aguiniga was a second team all-Sun Belt Conference pick after finishing ninth in the league in scoring and fourth among kickers. His 72.7% accuracy was the the best among the top five scoring kickers in the league. He kicked a 29-yard field goal with no time remaining to beat UL Lafayette 49-46 on November 17. He also kicked a 43-yard field goal with just five seconds in the half and a 35-yard field goal in the first quarter, equalling his career best for most field goals made in a game (3). For his efforts, Aguiniga was named the Sun Belt Conference Special Teams Player of the Week. He finished the season by making five of his last six field goal attempts. His 43-yard field goal at UL Lafayette is the longest outdoor kick of his Aggie career.
2000 (Freshman): Dario finished sixth in the Big West conference in scoring and fifth in extra point percentage (89.5) as a freshman. After a slow start, he made eight of his last 12 field goal attempts. He made all three of his field goal attempts at Arkansas State(10/21/00), including an 18-yarder with seven seconds remaining to send the contest into overtime. He made a 41-yard field goal vs. Boise State(10/28/00) and the two longest field goals of the season at Idaho from 45 and 49 yards. High School: Dario was named All-Harbor League following stellar senior season at Marian Catholic in 1999. He was also picked as the CIF Division III Kicker of the Year. He hit the game-winning 37-yard field goal in Qualcomm Stadium to give Marian its second straight Division IV championship over The Bishop’s School, in December 1999.
