| Career: Higgins had a solid spring campaign after coming to NMSU at the semester. He is a top candidate for the number one I-back spot.
Junior college: Eric averaged over 100 yards per game both seasons at Reedley Junior College in Reedley, California. Last year he rushed for 824 yards on 163 carries, scored three touchdowns, averaged 5.1 yards per carry and 117.7 yards per game. He played in just seven games last year due to injury. He ranked 11th in the state of California in rushing. In his freshman season, he played in 10 games, rushed for 1,082 yards on 169 carries, averaged 6.4 yards per carry, and scored 10 touchdowns. Some of his top games last fall included 182 yards rushing against the College of the Sequois and 150 yards against Modesto College. He was team captain at Reedley last fall.
High school: Eric played high school football at Dunbar High School in Lexington, Kentucky. He had over 3,000 all-purpose yards in his career, leading Dunbar to the state playoffs three consecutive seasons.
Personal: Eric was born in Lexington, Kentucky and is the son of Edward Higgins. He is majoring in Family and Child Science.
