Despite Jackson's Awesome Performance, Aggies Fall At North Texas 82-75 The Dallas native scores 20 points, grabs 23 rebound and blocks seven shots before hometown crowd

The Aggies fall to 13-6 on the season and 4-4 in the Sun Belt. North Texas collected their seventh win of the year, improving to 7-13 and 2-6 in the league.

In addition to his 20 points and record breaking 23 boards, Jackson also tied a school record for most blocks in a game, tying former Aggie great Sam Lacey who blocked seven shots against Arizona State on January 6, 1969.

Jason Fontenet led the way for the Aggies in points with 24, as James Moore added 12 and Brandon Mason scored 11.

As a team, the Aggies shot only 34 percent from the floor and 18 percent form behind the 3-point line making only 3-of-16.

Chris Davis led the Mean Green with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

North Texas shot 46 percent from the floor on 29-of-63 and 35 percent from behind the 3-point arc. The Mean Green also out rebound the Aggies 44-37.

The Aggies trailed 39-28 at the half as the Aggies shot just 31 percent in the first half and failed to make a 3-point basket.

NMSU started off the second half on a 5-0 run to cut UNT?s lead to six but the Mean Green quickly pushed it back to ten at 43-33 with 17:24 to go in the game.

Two quick 3-point baskets by Jason Fontenet and two free throws by Chris Jackson brought the Aggies to within four at 50-46 with 13:43 left in the game. Then a jumper by Gary Jackson cut the lead to just two at 50-48.

It would be the first of many runs the Aggies would make at the lead, but could never grab it.

Jason Fontenet hit two free throws with 7:46 left in the game to cut the lead to one, 62-61.

Trailing 77-70 with 2:10 in the game, Fontenet scored four straight points to cut the advantage to 77-75 with 1:31 remaining.

But that is as close as NMSU would come, as three free throws in the last 1:30 by Chris Davis would seal the victory for the Mean Green 82-75.

The Aggies are in action next Thursday as they host the University of New Orleans in the Pan American Center, tip-off is set for 7:05 p.m.
