UTSA Baseball started off the season with four straight wins. Despite battling, UTSA fell in all three of its games this weekend. InsideRunnerSports recaps the Louisiana Lafayette series.

After struggling to remain close in the first two games of the series, UTSA played an extremely competitive game Sunday afternoon but eventually fell to ULL 2-1.

UTSA jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning of the final matchup of the three game set. But ULL took the lead in the third inning.

Both squads’ pitched six scoreless innings, although UTSA did threaten in the top of the ninth but was unable to push across any runs.

On Saturday, UTSA jumped out to an early 3-0 in the first inning but ULL scored 7 runs over the next five innings as they outlasted the ‘Runners 9-6.

On Friday in the series opener the ULL bats came alive as the Ragin’ Cajuns scored 18 runs on 20 hits to down UTSA 18-6.

UTSA is now 5-3 overall. Up next for the ‘Runners is a Tuesday afternoon matchup with Texas-Pan American. First pitch is set for 4:00 pm at Roadrunner Field. This upcoming weekend is the UTSA Classic at Wolff Stadium where Penn State, Stephen F Austin, Omaha, and UTSA will all battle it out.
