Price hoping for local offer

DB David Price

Long Beach Poly (Calif.) defensive back David Price has flown a bit under the radar this year with so many talented safeties in the region. Price has quietly had a strong senior season and looked good in the Jackrabbits playoff opener last weekend.

David Price is a big, physical safety who probably projects best as an in the box strong safety in college. He loves to hit but showed his versatility against a good La Puente (Calif.) Bshop Amat team last weekend when he moved to corner for part of the game and looked very comfortable in coverage.

"We lost one of our starting corners to a torn ACL early in the season," Price said. "So I've been rotating back and forth between corner and safety and I'm comfortable playing either position. I'm sure I'll play safety in college but I think playing some corner has definitely helped me in a lot of ways."

On the recruiting front, Price landed early offers from Arizona, Colorado and Fresno State and continues to hear from both local schools, UCLA and USC as well.

"I haven't set up any visits yet but plan to real soon here," Price said. "I'm talking with Fresno State a lot and I'm definitely going to visit there. I talk to Coach Dews at Arizona all the time and I like their program a lot. That's another school I plan to visit. I haven't talked to Colorado in a while so I'm not sure what's going on there."

As for USC and UCLA, Price said he's hopeful one or even both could end up offering.

"I sent both schools my senior film and I've been talking to them and going to the games all season," Price said. "SC said they loved my film and told me I'm moving up their list. With Max Redfield de-committing, I think I have a good chance to get an offer.

"UCLA said the same thing, they like me a lot and liked my senior film so hopefully something happens. Right now, I'm focusing on my team and we have a big game with Mission Viejo this weekend. We're coming in as the underdogs but we like that. I think it's a going to be a good game and we're be ready for it."
